Tarkovski’s vision is one of my major influences. His work combines careful observation of nature with a touch of nostalgia. This is one of the photographs I took while traveling to Italy. I experienced there a phenomenon unique to that part of the world, a phenomenon often depicted in Italian baroque paintings which I had often dismissed as a product of artistic license and exaggeration.
